In life, everything good is built on a strong, reliable foundation. That’s true in relationships and in construction, which is why hiring a reputable concrete company is so important. Custom home builders who work with Flatmade Concrete appreciate the seamless process that the team at Flatmade provides as they offer a wealth of knowledge and experience, not to mention foresight and integrity.
“We respect the work of other trades, we leave a job site cleaner than what we found it, we read prints with precise detail, and we keep a budget in mind,” says Ben Driskell, owner and operator of Flatmade Concrete.
PROBLEM 1: KEEPING CONTRACTORS ON SCHEDULE
When contractors show up late, it causes the entire project to be delayed.
Solution: The team at Flatmade Concrete strives not to overbook. Doing so enables their installers to show up when they say they will or even early, if needed.
“I keep an eye on all upcoming jobs to make sure things are being done correctly so that we don’t get slowed down by, say, power not being on or water not being hooked up,” says Driskell, who is also proactive about initiating conversations with builders regarding scheduling rather than waiting for a phone call to say, “We’re ready for you now.”
“It’s better to be proactive in life,” says Driskell. “That’s why we all appreciate a good weatherman!”
PROBLEM 2: CONTRACTORS COVERING UP UNDERLYING ISSUES
Sometimes overzealous contractors cover up problems that need to be addressed early on. Driskell has found this happens most often with pools.
“Fixing it later, is not a solution to installers who rush through the project,” says Driskell. “When working on new homes and pools, we’re the last line of defense for any prior coverups or mistakes. Improperly placed items become permanent and uninstalled items become difficult or impossible to change after the fact.”
Solution: Driskell does thorough preliminary walkthroughs to keep such problems from happening.
PROBLEM 3: BUILDERS NOT GETTING WHAT THEY PAY FOR
Contractors can skimp on quality materials; in the concrete industry, that comes down to concrete mix design.
Solution: Concrete is a time-sensitive product, and every concrete contractor has a success rate.
“Builders like dealing with successful contractors who get the job done right the first time,” says Driskell. “This equals fewer headaches, fewer phone calls, and more time to handle the things that matter.”
